Background
With an intent to Strengthen the campaign for tobacco control in the state of Bihar; NGOs, academicians, health experts, legal experts & media personnel have come forward and formed a federation of different Stakeholders during a meeting held on 21 December, 2021 under the joint agencies of Bihar Institute of Economic Studies (BIES) and Socio Economic and Educational Development Society (SEEDS).
This federation has been formed with the aim of making “Tobacco Free-Bihar”
As such; the federation has been named as “Alliance for Tobacco Free-Bihar”. Which will be known as ‘AFTB’.

Networking and Co-ordinating campaigns of various institutions and NGOs.
Exerting pressure on the government for policy charges
Exposing and attacking the tobacco companies
Research into various aspects of Campaigns and policies at State level
Interaction with different bodies/ Stakeholders for mobilizing opinion towards a tobacco free state

Activities
AFTB’s Campaign is built on solid information about tobacco and its effects on health. AFTB analyses and assesses public policy, publication, journals, official reports, medical research and the media. It makes this information available to members and Collaborates.
AFTB to produce Campaigning materials including video/audio, flip charts, booklets, poster and Stickers. Through its activities, AFTB is able to bring about a Change in the perception about tobacco in the general population particularly among youth.
